Access Statement for Marwell Hotel

 

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

 

Introduction

Situated in the heart of Hampshire, Marwell Hotel looks different to any hotel you've visited in the UK. That difference is reflected in the service, the atmosphere and the surroundings - all of them out of the ordinary.
Just outside our gates are the Marwell Zoological park and further up the road are our sister property East Horton Golf Club and the Marwell Activity Centre.

Our 67 bedrooms are split between four lodges, connected by open, airy corridors from which you can admire the surrounding woodland.
Each of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom, broadband connection and Sky TV. Choose from standard, superior or executive single, double or family rooms.

Pre-Arrival

  • For full details and maps of how to reach us please see the location section of our website. Alternatively, you can plan your journey by car or public transport using www.transportdirect.info; simply enter your postcode and ours which is SO21 1JY to get directions.
  • The nearest railway station is Eastleigh and Hedge End which are 5 miles away; both with regular links to London. Taxis are available at both stations.
  • The nearest airport is Southampton which is 7 miles away.

 

Car Parking and Arrival

  • We have 80 parking spaces on-site, and an over-flow car park of 300 spaces, which is shared with the zoo. All spaces are complimentary.
  • We have two disabled spaces at the entrance of the Hotel, and a disabled entrance button if required.
  • There is space for coaches and buses to park in the over-flow car park.
  • The Hotel is accessible by both steps and a ramp.

 

Main Entrance / Reception / Welcome Area

  • Our main reception is situated on ground floor, and has a split mezzanine level, accessed by a spiral staircase.
  • There is a choice of seating in the main reception area, and access to a 24 hour licensed bar.
  • The main reception area offers plenty of natural daylight.
  • There are male, female and disabled toilet facilities in reception.
  • The mezzanine floor level offers guests a computer, television and XBOX.

 

Bedrooms

  • We have 17 ground floor accessible rooms, 4 of these are interconnecting rooms. The rooms can be reached via step free access from reception.
  • Double, twin and family rooms are available, and a put up bed can be provided if necessary.
  • In case of the fire alarm sounding, vibrating pillow pads are available on request for those with hearing difficulties.
  • All of our rooms offer natural daylight and are brightly lit. Overhead and wall lighting is used.
  • 2 of our rooms have wider sliding doors to allow for extra space. Handrails are provided in the bathrooms and the rooms are larger in size.
  • All bedrooms have access to a balcony, en-suite facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, and iron and ironing board and freeview TV.
  • DVD players and DVDs are available from reception.

 

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

  • All of our bedrooms have showers over the bath.
  • 2 of our bedrooms have grab rails in the bathroom.

 

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

  • All public areas have plenty of natural daylight and are well lit.
  • We have one lift at the Hotel - which provides access to first floor conference rooms.
  • Corridors provide clear signs directing people to bedrooms or function rooms.

 

Public Areas - Lounges, Lobbies

  • The lounge and bar area is situated on first floor, with a split level mezzanine floor, accessible by a spiral staircase.
  • The lounge offers floor to ceiling windows, ceiling lights and fans.
  • The area offers a variety of seating including sofas, chairs, stools, low coffee tables, formal tables and bean bags.
  • Bar food and drink can be served in the lounge and mezzanine floor.
  • The nearest toilets are behind reception and include and accessible toilet.
  • The mezzanine floor offers a computer, TV and XBOX - games provided by reception.

 

Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar & Bar area

  • The dining room is accessible on ground floor from the main reception area.
  • Double doors to the dining room are normally open during service hours.
  • Tables in the restaurant have level access throughout and are well spaced apart.
  • Our a la carte menu is available in the dining room, and we have children's menus available.
  • The chairs in the dining room are all hard backed.
  • The dining room offers plenty of natural daylight via 3 windowed walls; further ceiling lighting and candles are provided.
  • We have 2 AA rosettes in our dining room.

 

Public Toilets

  • Public toilets can be found on ground floor behind the main reception desk and on the first floor by the meeting rooms.
  • Both sets of toilets have a unisex accessible toilet and baby changing facilities.
  • The accessible toilets offer an emergency alarm pull cord.

 

Leisure Facilities

  • Leisure facilities are available to guests, compromising of a swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and two running machines.
  • These can be accessed from the main reception area via 5 stairs.
  • The leisure facilities are level throughout and offer private changing areas, lockers and showers.
  • The pool is accessed via steps.
  • All areas are well lit with natural daylight and ceiling lights.
  • The leisure club is open 7 days a week from 0700 to 2100 weekdays and 0800 to 2000 weekends.
  • The pool has a dual depth ranging from 1.3m and 1.5m.
  • The pool at Marwell is child friendly.

Grounds and Gardens

  • Marwell Hotel is set amongst 65 acres of grounds. compromising of woodlands, grass and paved courtyards.
  • The majority of our grounds are flat.
  • There is plenty of seating available in our grounds, including benches, tables and chairs.

 

Conference and Meeting Rooms

  • We have 5 meeting rooms at Marwell Hotel, ranging from capacities of 10 delegates to 200 delegates.
  • 3 of our meeting rooms are situated on first floor, with a lift access.
  • 2 of our meeting rooms can be accessed on ground floor.
  • All of the meeting rooms have plenty of natural daylight, and ceiling lights.
  • Upright chairs with or without arms are available and we have rectangular and round tables.
  • The nearest public toilets with an accessible toilet is on the same floor as each meeting room.

Additional Information

  • We have a set of evacuation procedures; should you require any assistance, a member of staff will come to your bedroom to help with evacuation.
  • We welcome trained guide and assistance dogs.
  • We have a 24 hour reception and room service available.
  • Clear signage is used throughout the hotel.
  • We offer complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and in all bedrooms.
  • You will find a selection of leaflets for local attractions in our main reception area.
  • Our dining room has been awarded two AA rosettes.
